Wild Olive is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Charleston’s farming community. It is another of the Godley Group restaurants, which also include The Obstinate Daughter, and Beardcat’s Sweet Shop. It strives to capture the cultural magic of true Italian dining and places value on simple, seasonal cuisine, paired with food friendly wines.
When the team at Wild Olive approached us to design and build a website, they said they wanted to really give the customer an idea of what it is like to be in the restaurant and interacting with the staff. The experience at the restaurant is made unique not only by their divine housemade pastas and charcuterie, but also their very professional staff. The solution was to work with the talented Charleston food photographer Andrew Cebulka. His food photos do a great job of capturing the action that goes into making the food, but also the personalities of the subjects of his photographs. With the help of his beautiful images, we created this classically simple, but bold design that displayed all of the fine details that make this restaurant the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at.
It was important to Wild Olive that the content be easy to manage, so we made updating menus, adding news posts, and editing all content on the site a very simple process by building a custom WordPress Theme to showcase Andrew’s photographs. The customer gets to view Andrew’s beautiful photographs and the staff gets the luxury of WordPress’s easy-to-use content management controls. Everyone wins!
It was an absolute pleasure working with the warm and enthusiastic team at Wild Olive and we are excited to take part in their path to success.
